Description
ARTIFACT:
This is an early World War I M1918a United States Air Service Overseas Signal Corps Officer collar insignia. The design of the insignia is a winged globe, a torch and two crossed flags. This design was only used from April to July 1918, in between its winged but globeless predecessor, and the later winged propeller.
VINTAGE:
World War I, from April to July 1918.
SIZE:
1" height and 1-3/16" length.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:
Bronze and silvered nickel.
ATTACHMENT:
Horizontal pin with an open C catch.
