Description
Scarce 1930's WWII Chilean Navy Submarine Service Badge, an early Type II example in stamped brass. During WWI and WWII, the Chilean Navy was caught up in a mutiny against the government (1915 1950). Twenty-six vessels demanded that a proposed salary decrease be taken off the table. The Chilean government refused to rescind the salary decrease and sent the Chilean Air Force to Talcahuano's Naval Air Base to bombard the ships. This action successfully quieted the rebellion and soon thereafter the entire Chilean Navy was purged.
