Description
This is a rare World War II officer jacket for the Volunteer Medical Service Corps (VMSC), an organization started during World War I. Doctors who were part of the VMSC could be called on to serve in either civilian or military capacities. The jacket has a VMSC insignia on each lapel and a patch for the VMSC and an Airborne patch. The cuffs are banded in scarlet.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:No tag: approximate size.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Wool, silk lining, one fully embroidered patch in cotton/silk threads and one wool patch embroidered in same, plated brass insignia, brass buttons (one button has been replaced).
ATTACHMENT:Buttons on jacket; buckle on belted strap in back; two posts with clutch-back catches on each insignia.
MARKINGS:REGULATION ARMY OFFICER'S UNIFORM on label.

CONDITION:8 (Excellent-): The jacket is in excellent condition with light wear to the edges of the patches and one replaced button.
