ARTIFACT: This is a WWII era pin made for a member of the United States Armed Forces who made an emergency parachute jump and who was "Saved for America" by a J.G. Menihan Chute. The pin is rectangular and shows a parachutist jumping past a single star on red, white and blue enamel. Type II, with "J.G. Menihan Chute" company name on reverse. This "e;Bail Out"e; pin is akin to those given by the Caterpillar Club.

VINTAGE: Circa WWII

SIZE: Pin: 1 1/16" x ½" Case: 3 ½" x 1 ½"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Sterling silver with red, white and blue enamel. Velvet lined, cardboard case with snap closure.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with drop-in swivel catch.

MARKINGS: "SAVED FOR AMERICA"/AWARDED TO/FOR EMERGENCY PARACHUTE JUMP IN A J.G. MENIHAN CHUTE/STERLING" on reverse.
