Description
This is a rare WWII "Soldier Shows" service performance organization performer tie bar badge. Overseen by a dedicated Army Special Forces unit, "Soldier Shows" were put on by servicemen who were usually experienced entertainers. These productions inspired Irving Berlin's Broadway show "This Is the Army", which later became a film starring Ronald Reagan. The Army Emergency Relief Fund was augmented greatly by the 1942 European tour of this hit, which included active servicemen. The badge is enameled in red and blue and shows the faces of comedy and tragedy, each one the basis of an "S".
