ARTIFACT: This is a rare World War II Pan American Air Ferries (PAAF) collar insignia in sterling silver which reads PAAF. President Franklin Roosevelt asked Pan American Airways in 1941 to ferry bombers and military transports overseas, and the result was a separate company called the PAAF. In 1942, the United States Army Air Transport Command took over the PAAF and the Pan American pilots were given the option to receive Army commissions or remain in civil aviation.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: 3/8" height and 1-1/8" width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Sterling silver.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS: STERLING.
