Description
This is a rare World War II Japanese pilot's bail-out survival float flag. The flag is silk with a buoyant material (perhaps foam) sewn into the edges. The flag is attached to its original telescoping bamboo pole and is in excellent condition. This flag would have been used as a flotation device for pilots and crew of downed aircraft.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Flag: approximately 37-1/2" in height and 29" in width; pole: extends to about 33" (telescopes to 7-13/16").
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Silk, probably foam sewn inside edge, bamboo, rope.
ATTACHMENT:Rope, telescoping pole.
