ARTIFACT:

This is a rare World War II badge for the Australian Women's National Emergency Legion (WNEL), Transport. This badge was made in Brisbane, headquarters of the WNEL. Among other duties, the WNEL provided transportation for the many Americans who arrived there. The badge is a winged wheel.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 3/4" in height and 1-15/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gilt brass.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal pin with tongue-style C catch.

MARKINGS:

HANDFORD BRISBANE.

ITEM NOTES:

7+ (Very Fine+): The badge shows some light wear and abrasions on the reverse.
