This is a rare World War II United States Army Air Forces 39th Troop Carrier Squadron (aka "Jungle Skippers") DI.

Circa World War II.

About 1-1/4" in diameter.

Gilt brass with enamel detail.

Vertical pin with a C catch.

While he was alive, Jay Massaro and I spoke at length about this DI. He felt that it was WWII, although earlier on he had noted it as a reunion piece. He had it on his list of things to write about before he passed away but sadly never got to write the article for the Trading Post.
