Description
This is a rare World War I unit-painted helmet for the United States Army 80th Infantry Division, 314th Machine Gun Regiment. This helmet originally belonged to Fred Forrest of Tabernacle, Virginia, who later owned a candy store in Matthew's, Virginia. One side of the helmet has a painted 80th Infantry Division insignia, or the "Blue Ridge".
VINTAGE:Circa World War I.
SIZE:Helmet: approximate size small/medium.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Painted steel, leather, mesh lining.
ATTACHMENT:Chin strap with buckle.
MARKINGS:Z38(?) : hard to read stamp.

CONDITION:7- (Very Fine-): The helmet's liner is almost gone, but the leather chin strap is still intact.
