Rare Vase from Rex Hotel in Saigon - Famous for Viet Nam War Press Meetings

This is a rare vase from the famous Rex Hotel in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam). Originally an automobile garage built during the late 1920s, the building began its conversion into a luxury hotel complex in 195Four hundred United States Army soldiers christened the Rex in December of 1961 while their much sparser, long-term accommodations were being readied nearby. War correspondents and military personnel alike frequented the lounge at the Rex, and its conference room provided a venue for the daily press conference nicknamed "The Five O'Clock Follies". The vase has a nicely fluted opening and is in blue and white.
