ARTIFACT:
Rare United States Prisoner of War (POW) postcard from an Imperial Japanese Army POW Camp in Fukuoka, Japan. The postcard was sent from a US Civilian POW to his sister in Detroit, Michigan. The name of the POW is Eric Lehtola and the postcard is addressed to "Mrs. Pearl Latvala" at "1694 Ford Ave." and the outer edges show Japanese kanji and blue and red ink stamps. The reverse is typewritten: "Dear Sister, I am troubled with the same sickness as before. We have received some Red Cross food and clothing. I hope you are all well. Give my regards to all, with love, Your brother. Eric Lehtola." and the bottom shows his signature in pen ink. Above the typewritten message the postcard is stamped with kanji and reads: "IMPERIAL JAPANESE ARMY" and shows a red ink stamp.
