ARTIFACT: This is a rare Type II World War II silver foil submarine launch tag for the USS Spinax SS-489. The Spinax was a Tench-class submarine and was launched from the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard on November 25, 1945. She was decommissioned in October 11, 1969. The type III Silver Foil is more rare than the matte silver finish tag. Only the Spinax and Volador tags were made in the 3rd type silver foil.

VINTAGE: Circa 1945.

SIZE: About 1-3/4 in width by 2-1/8" in height.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Silver foil card stock.

ATTACHMENT: Silk string.

MARKINGS: None.
