Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a rare, last type World War I American Field Service Camion (Transport) driver hat badge. It is in brown (paint) patinated copper and came to us from the estate of William Edwin Bown, a 397 T.M.U. (397 Transport Militaire UnitŽ, Groupe HŽmart) driver from East Aurora, New York who served in France with the unit for four months. Bown eventually settled in Exeter, New Hampshire. A helmet of Lieutenant Bown's is also for sale separately (please see link at bottom of page for information). One of the men standing in front of the vehicle in the above photo is Lieutenant Bown (photo not for sale with the badge or helmet).

VINTAGE:

Circa World War I.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-5/16" in height and 2-7/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Brown (paint) patinated copper.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.
