Rare Larger Size 1930's 99s / Ninety-Nines Aviatrix / Women Aviators Club Member Lapel Pin.

ARTIFACT:

This is a circa 1930's Member Lapel pin for the Ninety-Nines, or 99s, a women's aviation group founded in 1929. The club's birth happened at Curtiss Field on Long Island, New York, and it was officially named two years later for the ninety-nine charter members under President Amelia Earhart. The pin is two very angular nines with a fixed diagonal propeller across them.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1930's.

SIZE:

Approximately 9/16" in width and 5/8" in height. Propeller: 3/4" in length.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gold-plated nickel. Propeller can move.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical pin with drop-in locking catch.
