ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1940s member lapel pin for the Ninety-Nines, a women's aviation group founded in 1929. The club's birth happened at Curtiss Field on Long Island, New York, and it was officially named two years later for the ninety-nine charter members under president Amelia Earhart. The pin is larger than its earlier counterpart, and shows two very angular nines with a movable diagonal propeller across them.

VINTAGE: Circa 1940s.

SIZE: Approximately 9/16" in width and 5/8" in height.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gold-plated brass.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a civil aviation collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAEX98 LHEX7/12 SHJX7/12

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): The pin shows hardly any wear.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
