Description
Rare, "Hollow Back" Nazi Army SS (Schutzstaffel) Combat Infantry Assault Badge (Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen) as worn in early WWII. Badge depicts an eagle perched top and center on a swastika, the oval shape of the badge is formed from a wreath of oak leaves joined together at the bottom with a bow, and laying diagonal across the badge is a rifle. The badge was awarded in both bronze and silver levels, the silver grade was awarded to those who participated in combat action (non-motorized and mountain personnel) and was designed by C. E. Junker of Berlin.
