Description
This is a rare, sterling silver badge for the United States Army Air Forces 102nd Observation Squadron by Dieges & Clust. This is the first type construction for this badge, with a horizontal pin and an open "e;tongue-type" C catch. On the 2nd type constructed badge, the pin sits diagonally on the reverse of the badge and the catch is a drop-in type locking catch. The badge shows a winged rattlesnake about to strike and reads 102.
VINTAGE:Circa early 1920s.
SIZE:About 7/8" height and 2" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Sterling silver.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin and an open "e;tongue-type" C catch.
MARKINGS:STERLING D&C with maker's mark.
