ARTIFACT:
Rare circa 1951 Republic of Korea Order of Military Merit, 2nd Class, 1st Type in gilt and enameled silver. This example is #'d and is shaped like a Maltese cross, the center of which shows a sword against a red enameled background and an outer ring that features a nicely detailed wreath in green and white enamel. The medallion is suspended from a faded silk ribbon, red with three thin white stripes on either side. The reverse is numbered: "737" and is surrounded with Korean lettering. This medal was awarded to both Korean and foreign military personnel.

Circa 1951.
SIZE:
Approximately 3-1/2" in height x 1-11/16" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Enameled and gilt silver, silk ribbon, nickel pin.
ATTACHMENT:
Horizontal safety style pin.

CONDITION:
7- (Very Fine-): The medal shows moderate wear, fractures in the enamel with a small spot missing, the ribbon has faded with time, some of the gilt plated details remain, overall very fine condition.
