This is a rare "Checkmates" flight jacket patch for the United States Navy fighter squadron VF-18A. The patch reads FIGHTING EIGHTEEN and shows figures on a chessboard.
VINTAGE:Circa 1946-1948.
SIZE:5-5/8" height and 3-7/8" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold fully-embroidered patch in multi-colored cotton/silk threads with canvas inset.

CONDITION:8- (Very Fine): Patch shows light wear and one small spot of slight discoloration.
