NOTE: All of these USN patches being listed on consignment with consignor code CON-DSS come from the lifelong collection of a retired Vietnam War USN Pilot who had close times with the Tailhook Association and was able to obtain some very special and unique patches. We are proud to have been given the opportunity to bring parts of this collection to market. We will be listing 25 or so now, and hope to have another offering in April or May.
What we have here is an Extremely Rare ca 1948 - 1950 US Navy VF-153 / VF-194 Thundercats Flight Jacket Patch, removed from a flight jacket.
USN Squadron VF-153 Thundercats was established as Second VF-153 on 15 July 1948, reestablished as VF-194 on 15 February 1950, and again as VA-196 on 4 May 1955. The unit was disestablished in 1997. This early Insignia was used from 1948 until 5 October 1950. The Squadron Insignia was designed by Ens Arnold Crohn, one of the pilots. Squadron flew F8F Bearcats.

Approximately 4-5/8" in height x 5-1/2" in width.

Fully-embroidered patch in multi-colored silk/cotton threads.
