ARTIFACT: Rare, circa 1975-1977 United States Energy Research and Development Administration Los Alamos Protective Force (ERDA) shoulder patch. The administration was formed as part of the Energy Reorganization Act of 1974, which split the Atomic Energy Commission into two new agencies: the Nuclear Regulatory Commission would regulate the commercial nuclear power industry, while the ERDA would manage the energy research and development, nuclear weapons, and naval reactors programs. The patch reads: "Los Alamos Protective Force - Energy Research and Development Adm. - USA" and depicts a white and yellow sunburst in the center.

VINTAGE: Circa 1975-77

SIZE: Approximately 4 ¾" round.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Embroidered wool felt, silk/cotton/polyester threads, muslin backing.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: None.
