ARTIFACT: Rare circa 1942-43 Royal Canadian Air Force 426 Squadron badge. The center of the badge shows a Thunderbird against an enameled maple leaf and the outer edge features a ring of dark blue enamel and reads: "426 THUNDERBIRD SQUADRON" and shows the original owner's initials: "M.E.R." engraved along the center bottom. The badge is from the Royal Air Field Dishforth when the squadron flew as part of the No. 4 RAF, Royal Air Force Bomber.

VINTAGE: Circa 1942 ??? 1943

SIZE: Approximately 1-1/4" in diameter

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Silver plated brass, enamel, engraved initials

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal kick pin with 'C' catch.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a RCAF/RAF Commonwealth collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MFEZ16 LDIEX6/16 SDIEX7/16

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine - Excellent): The badge shows minor to moderate wear, much of the plated and enamel details remain, overall very fine condition.
