ARTIFACT:
This is a rare, author-signed hardcover copy of a World War II unit history of the United States Army 43rd Division Artillery by Brigadier General Harold R. Barker. Barker inscribed a message to Harlan Richardson, a fellow member of the 43rd during World War II. Barker began his military career with the United States Army in 1913 with Battery A, Rhode Island Field Artillery. Appointed Brigadier General in 1937, Barker commanded the 43rd Division Artillery and the XIV Corps Artillery in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was a Silver Star, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit and Air Medal and recipient. The book has several photographs and many fold-out charts and maps. It is crisp and in excellent condition, with a dust jacket that has taken all the abuse for the book.
