ARTIFACT: Great WWII Trench Art ashtray, 192nd Field Artillery Battalion of the 43rd Infantry Division of the United States Army. The center shows a shield and fleur de lis and the surrounding lip/edge reads: "43rd INF. DIV" along the top with their insignia in the center with "192nd F.A. B.N." along the bottom in nice raised detail, overall gorgeous patina and was likely made in the Philippines. The 192nd was designated as the Field Artillery Battalion in February 1942 and deployed to New Zealand in October 1942. There, the 192nd fought in the Pacific Theater of Operations, engaged in the Guadalcanal, New Solomon Islands, New Guinea, and Luzon campaigns before their return home in 1945. The Battalion received multiple Presidential Unit Citations.

SIZE: Approximately 4-3/4" in diameter

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt bronze
