This is a United States Air Corps 43rd Division Aviation (in the 1930s) and 118th Observation Squadron (in the 1940s) distinctive insignia (DI) pin. The pin is round with a yellow background and black border and shows the Connecticut Colonial secretary hurrying on foot carrying the colonial charter.
The Squadron Pin was made by the firm of Whitehead & Hoag of Newark, NJ.
VINTAGE:
Circa WWII.
SIZE:Approximately 1" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold-plated brass with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Single screw post with disc backing.
MARKINGS:W&H CO.
