Description
This is a rare 1920s pocket hanger for the United States Army 92nd Division, also known as the Buffalo Soldiers. The division was comprised of all African Americans, and they borrowed their nickname from a sobriquet given to African American cavalrymen in the previous century by Native Americans. The hanger is two pieces of leather with a black and green enameled medallion showing a lone buffalo at center.
VINTAGE:Circa 1920s.
SIZE:Approximately 2-3/4" in height and 1-9/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Multi-piece leather with enamel on brass.
ATTACHMENT:Slit opening.
