ARTIFACT: This is a slight variant shoulder patch for the United States Army 92nd Division, also known as the Buffalo Soldiers. The division was comprised of all African Americans, and they borrowed their nickname from a sobriquet given to African American cavalrymen in the previous century by Native Americans. The patch is round in olive drab with a black border and shows a lone black buffalo at center with a ribbed texture.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 2-3/16" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Fully embroidered in cotton/silk threads.
