Description
This is a numbered early World War II (circa 1939) badge for the Romanian Iron Guard, or Garda de Fier. The Iron Guard was a nationalist political party that was born in 1927 and held anti-communist and anti-Semitic views. It had a short-lived period of integration with the government of Ion Antonescu from September 1940 until it was crushed by the same no longer-sympathetic leader. The shield-shaped badge is in brass with bright yellow, blue and red enameling.
