This item is an early WWII enameled badge belonging to the United States Navy Seabees, or Construction Battalion. On the front of this badge, in Latin, reads the words "Construimus Batuimus," which translates to "We build. We fight." The body of this copper badge has an enameled United States flag with a Seabee in relief at its center. The badge was made by Metal Arts of Rochester, New York.
Approximately 1-1/4" x 15/16
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Brass with colored enamel finish
Vertical pin with a "come-under" locking clasp.
METAL ARTS CO. ROCH. N.Y.
This is from a United States Navy Seabees collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBJL95 LADEX01/17
7 (Very Fine): The lacquer on this badge has started to come off slightly. The colors on the enamel are still present and vibrant, making for a very fine looking piece.
GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
