Description
Nice, attic-fresh example of a Civil War .58 Musket Cartridge Box. The front features the brass box plate which reads: "US" in raised letters and the reverse features two lugs/loops for attachment to the front flap closure. The inside of the cartridge box contains two metal tins/boxes. The bottom features a painted steel buckle and brass ball tip for securing the front flap closure and the reverse has two leather straps, anchored by copper for attachment to a belt.

CONDITION:6+ (Fine&emdash;Very Fine): The cartridge box shows moderate to heavy wear, the leather has stiffened, but is still pliable, the brass plate shows moderate wear, the painted steel buckle shows oxidation and the copper shows verdigris, and overall the leather shows age and storage wear, original metal boxes remain inside.
