Description
This is a mint World War II United States Army Air Forces 545th Bomb Squadron, 384th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force jacket patch. The 545th flew B-17 bombers, and on April 17, 1944, only one of the bombers carrying out a daylight raid on Schweinfurt, Germany survived: even the bomber's wingman exploded in front of the crew's eyes. The striking black patch is inked upon embossed leather and shows a kneeling Native American drawing his bow back to launch a missile.
