ARTIFACT:

This is a circa mid- to late 1960s Guard breast and hat badge for Winthrop Labs of Rensselaer, New York. Winthrop was the pharmaceutical company responsible for creating the famous anabolic steroid known as Winstrol. The badges are both numbered 9 and have the Seal of State of New York in relief at center.

VINTAGE:

Circa mid-late 1960s.

SIZE:

Breast badge: approximately 2-15/16" in height and 1-13/16" in width; hat badge: approximately 2-7/16" in height and 1-5/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Plated brass.

ATTACHMENT:

Breast badge: vertical kick pin, drop-in locking swivel catch; hat badge: single screw post with disc backing, stabilization post.

MARKINGS:

9 on front.
