ARTIFACT: This is a heavy Mexican sterling silver and enamel belt buckle from the middle to late 1950's. The buckle was made in Taxco, Mexico's "Silver Capital". The design is simple, with two raised and somewhat ridged black enamel squares in a checkerboard pattern.

VINTAGE: Circa mid to late 1950's.

SIZE: Approximately 2-3/8" in length and 1-1/2" in height. 51.12 Grams.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Sterling silver, enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Swiveling prong.

MARKINGS: TAXCO MEXICO and unknown (GOMEZ?) maker mark and Taxco Assay Office mark: silhouette of Mexican eagle with a 3 at center.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The buckle is in excellent condition with some minor tarnish and marker on reverse.
