ARTIFACT:
This is a vintage late 1940s or early 1950s silver front "Scenic Sheriff" belt buckle (it is one third silver). It is by Irvine & Jachens of San Francisco, California, and has a maker mark on reverse. It has a great raised star at its center bearing a horse's head, and a farm scene in relief as the background.
VINTAGE:
Circa late 1940s- early 1950s.
SIZE:
Approximately 2-1/4" in height and 3-1/2" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Silver, gilt brass.
ATTACHMENT:
Buckle loop, prong.
MARKINGS:
IRVINE & JACHENS INC. COMSTOCK SILVER.
