ARTIFACT:
This is a Lovely Small 1944 9th Air Force IX Troop Carrier Command Baseball Champs Award Plaque D-Day Unit.
The 9th Air Force was the tactical arm of the USAAF in western Europe from 1943 to the end of the war in 1945. The IX Troop Carrier Command was constituted on the 11th of October 1943, and activated on the 16th of October 1943 in England, where it was assigned to the 9th Air Force.
The aircrews of the 9th Air Force "softened" the enemy before the invasion of Normandy, supported ground forces on D-Day and made possible their rapid advance through France to the Nazi heartland.

Approximately: 5" in height x 3-5/8" in width.

CONDITION:
8+ (Excellent): The piece is made of 80+ year old plywood, Easel is separated from Plaque, but will still support it in an upright position. Plaque was made in England.
