This is a circa late World War II patch-type distinctive insignia for the United States Army 1st Infantry Division, also known as "The Big Red One". The insignia is a red number one against an olive drab background.
VINTAGE:Circa late World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/8" in height and 3/4"in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gilt brass, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with come-under locking swivel catch (swivel part of catch missing).
MARKINGS:None.

CONDITION:7- (Very Fine-): The DI shows light wear along edge; swivel part of catch missing.
