This is a submarine patch for the USS James Monroe (SSBN-622), a ballistic missile submarine. The James Monroe was launched from Newport News, Virginia on August 4, 196She was decommissioned in 1990. The patch is embroidered with the ship's motto: WATCHFUL WAITING.
VINTAGE:Circa late 1960s.
SIZE:Approximately 5" in diameter (not 100% round).
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Twill embroidered in cotton/polyester threads, mesh backing.
