Description
This is a circa late 1960s jacket patch for the United States Air Force 4537th Fighter Weapons Squadron. The squadron served at Nellis AFB, Nevada from 1961-196The patch is embroidered upon blue twill and shows a somewhat ferocious looking weasel and a missile beneath the words "WILD WEASEL". This nickname was given to aircraft possessing radar-seeking missiles with the express purpose of knocking out enemy radar and surface-to-air missile systems.
VINTAGE:Circa late 1960s.
SIZE:Approximately 3-3/4" in height and 2-1/2" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Twill embroidered cotton/polyester threads, mesh backing.
