ARTIFACT: This is a circa late 1960s United States Navy submarine patch for the nuclear-powered submarine USS Gurnard SSN-662. She was launched from Mare Island in Vallejo, California on May 20, 1967, and served, most notably in the Arctic, until April 1995. The patch bears the motto DE PROFUNDIS: Out of the deep. This patch was made in Japan by Ace Novelty.

VINTAGE: Circa late 1960s.

SIZE: Approximately 4" in height and 4-5/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Fully embroidered in cotton/polyester thread.
