ARTIFACT: This is a circa late 1930s Japanese Navy aviator 2nd Class badge, solely awarded to seaman (enlisted rank Naval personnel) who finished first in their class at flight school. There was no navy officer's badge, and the 1st class version of this badge was for Petty Officers. The badge is an early one, in bronze (not painted brown), with gold wash on the anchor and cherry blossom (sakura). It has a fantastic thick pin on reverse.

VINTAGE: Circa late 1930s.

SIZE: Approximately 1-1/4" in height and 1-1/2" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Bronze with gold wash.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical T-style pin with C catch.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a Japanese militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VABBX13 LFIEX2/13 SFIEX10/13 I-VGEX

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The badge shows some light wear and tarnish, some minor oxidation.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
