Description
This is a circa late 1930s Japanese Navy aviator 2nd Class badge, solely awarded to seaman (enlisted rank Naval personnel) who finished first in their class at flight school. There was no navy officer's badge, and the 1st class version of this badge was for Petty Officers. The badge is an early one, in bronze (not painted brown), with gold wash on the anchor and cherry blossom (sakura). It has a fantastic thick pin on reverse.
VINTAGE:Circa late 1930s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/4" in height and 1-1/2" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Bronze with gold wash.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical T-style pin with C catch.
