ARTIFACT: This is a large, original World War II watercolor for the insignia of the USS Sawfish SS-276, launched from the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard on June 23, 1942. The watercolor shows Japanese leader Tojo about to be sawn in half by a sawfish wearing a sailor's cap. During the Sawfish's ten war patrols she sank or damaged eighteen enemy vessels, and earned eight battle stars for her World War II service.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 10-1/2" in height by 11-1/2" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Watercolor on paper.
