ARTIFACT: This medal is a commemorative medal from the record-setting double Mediterranean flight performed by Captain François Coli and Lieutenant Henri Roget. Coli and Roget were the first to cross the Mediterranean twice in a day when they flew from Marseille to Algier and back on January 26th, 1919. Their flight established a record for over-water distance: 735 kilometers in 5 hours. The medal reads: "Au Capitaine Coli. Au Lieutenant Roget. Premiers navigateurs de l'air qui firent en avion dans la meme journee l'aller et retour glorieux Marseille Alger le 26 Janvier 1919." (To Capt. Coli. To Lieutenant Roget. The first air navigators who went by plane and returned in one day gloriously, Marseille Algier on the 26th January 1919.)

VINTAGE: Circa 1920.

SIZE: 2" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Bronze.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: Each side is marked with a maker's mark: J. C. Achard 1920.
