ARTIFACT:

This is a Korean War era United States Navy VF-191 (Fighter Squadron 191) "Satan's Kittens" small size jacket patch. VF-191 served aboard the USS Princeton (CV/CVA-37) from 1951 through 1952 and aboard the USS Oriskany (CVA-34) between 1953 and 195The squadron was largely comprised of the Navy's "Blue Angels" members. The patch is Japanese-made. It is fully embroidered and shows a cat with a pitchfork about to hurl some lightning bolts.

VINTAGE:

Circa Korean War era.

SIZE:

Approximately 3" in height and 3-1/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Fully embroidered in cotton/silk/polyester thread, muslin backing.
