Description

ARTIFACT:

This is an Imperial German Army silver wound badge, which is equivalent to a Purple Heart. The silver version was awarded to enlistees wounded either three or four times during enemy interaction or who had suffered various other traumas such as the loss of a hand or foot, partial deafness or brain damage. The badge shows a helmet with two crossed swords behind it. It is in painted steel and is of World War I period manufacture.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War I.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-11/16" in height and 1-7/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Painted steel.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical T-style kick pin with C catch.
