Description
This is an Imperial German Army black wound badge, which is equivalent to a Purple Heart. The black version was awarded to enlistees who were injured up to twice or who suffered frostbite while serving. The badge shows a helmet with two crossed swords behind it. It is in painted brass and is of World War I period manufacture. Its original 7 Pfennig (cent) price is written on reverse.

SIZE:Approximately 1-3/4" in height and 1-1/2" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Painted brass.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical T-style kick pin with C catch.
