Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a World War II United States Coast Guard officer visor hat belonging to S.L. Loyer. The hat has a beautiful and rare eagle badge in bullion at front center and a patent leather strap and visor. Inside is an original manufacturer's label.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

No tag: approximately size 7 Ð 7 1/4.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Wicker, punched leather, patent leather, silk ribbon, elastic band, wool embroidered in bullion and silk/cotton threads, plated brass, paper, cellophane.

MARKINGS:

S. L. LOYER (stamped three times) and ART CAPS with maker's mark.

ITEM NOTES:

CONDITION:

7 (Very Fine): Hat shows a slight discoloration in spots and some wear, mostly around hatband.
