ARTIFACT: Iconic WWII Switlik Parachute Company "Caterpillar Club" pin by Metal Arts Co. The pin is in the shape of a caterpillar and reads: "CATERPILLAR CLUB" against a black enamel background. The reverse shows a maker's mark that reads: "METAL ARTS CO. ROCH., N.Y." The "Caterpillar Club" is a designation given to those US airmen who were forced to bail out of a compromised aircraft and were saved because they were wearing a successfully operational parachute.

VINTAGE: Circa WWII

SIZE: Approximately 1-1/8" x 1/4"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Enameled silver

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal safety style pin

MARKINGS: "METAL ARTS CO. ROCH., N.Y. STERLING"

ITEM NOTES: This is from a USAAF collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBJJX16 LDEJX10/16

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): The pin shows minor to moderate wear, much of the enamel details remain intact, overall excellent condition.
