Classic Iconic WWII Switlik Parachute Co. Caterpillar Club Pin by Metal Arts Co. in New York

This is a Classic, Iconic, World War II Switlik Parachute Company "Caterpillar Club" pin by Metal Arts Co. The pin is in the shape of a caterpillar and reads: "CATERPILLAR CLUB" against a black enamel background. The reverse shows a maker's mark that reads: "METAL ARTS CO. ROCH, N.Y." The "Caterpillar Club" is a designation given to those US airmen who were forced to bail out of a compromised aircraft and were saved because they were wearing a successfully operational parachute.

Circa World War II.

Approximately: 1/4" in height (Body) x 1-1/8" in width.

Enameled Sterling.

Horizontal pin with come-under locking catch.
