This is a circa employee badge for the Hercules Powder Company of Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Hercules was formed in 1912 by a man with a mythically fitting name: T.W. Bacchus.
The badge is oval and is numbered 652 with a New Orleans, Louisiana maker mark on reverse.
VINTAGE:
Circa World War I.
SIZE:Approximately 1-3/8" in height and 1-15/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Brass with painted details.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal safety-style pin, saddle.
MARKINGS:652 on front; New Orleans Stamp & Stencil Co. N.O. L.A. 330 CAMP ST.
